Displaying Your Artwork

Updated: Aug 6

Don't overlook your walls when decorating your home. We're here to help you make the most of every space, with endless possibilities for showcasing art in every corner. Here are a few things to consider when looking to hang art.

What to consider:

  1. Placement:

  • Eye Level: Hang art at eye level, typically 57-60 inches from the floor to the center of the piece.

  • Grouping: Maintain consistent spacing when displaying multiple pieces. Align tops, bottoms, or centers for harmony.

  1. Lighting:

  • Natural Light: Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. Opt for indirect natural light.

  • Artificial Lighting: Use picture lights, track lighting, or wall washers. Ensure lights are UV-filtered to protect the art.

  1. Wall Composition:

  • Gallery Wall: Create a dynamic display with various sizes and styles. Plan the layout on the floor or use paper templates on the wall.

  • Symmetrical Display: For a clean look, hang art in a symmetrical grid or linear arrangement with consistent spacing and frame styles.

  1. Hardware and Hanging:

  • Use Proper Hooks: Ensure hooks or nails can support the frame's weight. Picture-hanging kits offer a variety of hardware.

  • Level and Secure: Use a level to ensure straightness. Wall anchors or screws are recommended for heavier pieces.
